It is recommended to store the license in your storage allocation. (e.g. /storage1/fs1/${STORAGE_ALLOCATION}/Active/Stata_License). Please do not store any otherfiles in the folder containing the Stata license.
The stata.lic is now generated and available in the /app/statafolder. To avoid having to repeat this process, copy the licenseto a secure location, such as a storage allocation. The securedlicense file can then be used in subsequent interactive Statajobs. Please see the note abovefor more information.

Namethe folder after the version of Stata and copy the correspondinglicense to the folder. As recommended earlier, please be sure that no other files are in the folder containing the Stata license.

Statamic will ping The Outpost (our wilderness-branded web service) on a regular basis. The Outpost collects the license key and public domain info (Domain Name, IP Address, etc) so we can validate them against your account.
A Statamic license entitles you to use it on one domain. You will need to specify the domain you plan to use from the license area of your Statamic Account. This domain will be treated as a wildcard so you can use subdomains for locales, testing, and other purposes.
If you attempt to use the site from another domain you will get a notification inside the Control Panel informing you that your key is being used on more than one site and be prompted to make the necessary changes. You may change the domain associated with a license at any time.
Use the stata-mp executable when using Stata on CARC systems. The MP version of Stata enables use of large datasets as well as multiple cores for parallel computation. The current Stata license allows up to 8 cores.
To run Stata scripts (do-files) from within Stata, use the do command (e.g., do script.do). Alternatively, to run Stata scripts from the shell, use the stata-mp -b do command (e.g., stata-mp -b do script.do).
Make sure to adjust the resources requested based on your needs, but remember that fewer resources requested leads to less queue time for your job. Please note that the current Stata license limits you to a maximum of 8 CPUs.
Loading the Stata module will automatically change the STATATMP directory to a /scratch1//stata directory, used for storing temporary files. To use a different directory, set the STATATMP environment variable in your job script after loading the module:
If using the stata-mp executable, Stata will automatically use the requested number of cores from Slurm's --cpus-per-task option. This implicit parallelism does not require any changes to your code. The current Stata license allows up to 8 cores. For more information about stata-mp, see Stata's performance report.
GradPlan licenses are single-user licenses with PDF documentation that are available to faculty and staff at participating institutions. Licenses are perpetual or annual. Perpetual licenses do not expire and may be upgraded to a different flavor of Stata at a reduced price. Annual licenses expire one year from the date of purchase. Although they may be upgraded to a higher flavor, the expiration date remains the same as the original purchase.
Site Licenses are agreements between a software manufacturer or vendor and the University to copy and distribute their software. Site licenses allow Washington State University to obtain the best possible price for these products. Each site license has its own terms and conditions. Some site licenses apply to University departments, faculty, staff and students as a whole. Others are limited to department-owned computers, or computers on the physical WSU campus. Typically, you are granted the right to use the product for a specified period of time. Almost all academic site license agreements require that the use of the software be university-related and prohibit use for commercial purposes. Documentation is usually purchased separately. Please be aware that in some cases you must agree to discontinue use of the software if the WSU department responsible for administering the contract does not renew, or if your association with the University ends.
There are two types of site licenses, universal and node. A universal license has no set limit on the number of users. A node license has a limited number of users. The company usually has established price breaks for volume purchases.
